Many homeowners dream of creating the perfect home bar. That’s because a well-built, stylish home bar in your basement, living room, kitchen, or garage can increase the value of your home while also providing a fun, functional, and aesthetically pleasing space for entertaining.
A great backsplash is key to creating a practical and sophisticated home bar. When it comes to selecting a durable and attractive backsplash for your home bar, you’ll want to consider the style/theme of your dream bar as well as the overall look of your home.
Popular backsplash options for an upscale wet bar or dry bar in the home include marble tiles, mirrored glass tiles, textured tiles such as stacked stone or ledgestone tiles, picket mosaic tiles in deep, rich colors like olive green or onyx black, and brick or brick look subway tiles. Before building your own custom home bar, check out these classic and contemporary home bar backsplash ideas and examples.
Classic Wet Bar with White Marble Mini Brick Backsplash
White marble mini brick subway tile is a classic wet bar backsplash idea that will never go out of style. One of our customers recently built this handsome wet bar with a Carrara Venato marble mini brick backsplash.
The elegant white marble with soft gray veining gives this home bar a timeless, high-end look, making it a classy choice for entertaining anyone from your neighbors to your boss.
Retro Basement Bar with Antique Mirror Subway Tile Backsplash
Antique mirror subway tiles are one of our favorite basement bar backsplash ideas. An antique mirror tile backsplash provides a lustrous, retro look that evokes the feeling of a dark, moody lounge.
One of our customers recently completed a stylish basement bar remodel using our distressed antique mirror beveled subway tile. The combination of distressed mirror glass with dark brown cabinets and a polished brass beer tap gives this basement bar an old-school tavern look. This was a groutless tile installation which provides a clean look but might not last as long as tile installed with light grout lines.
For a slightly more updated look, try installing unbeveled antique mirror subway tiles vertically, instead of horizontally. This provides a more contemporary look that makes a striking and elegant focal point for a moody basement or den bar area.
Contemporary Dry Bar with Long Herringbone Backsplash
For a dry bar on the main level of your home, you may want to consider a long herringbone tile backsplash like the one Dallas blogger Trisha Le recently chose for her first home. Trisha Le’s stunning kitchen dry bar features a blue LED under counter wine cooler, white cabinets with long brass cabinet pulls and our 1”x6” long herringbone tile in Carrara Venato marble.

Herringbone is a popular mosaic tile pattern that always makes for an attractive, universally appealing, timeless backsplash. Selecting a thinner, longer chip size such as 1 x 6 inches for your herringbone bar backsplash is a great way to add an updated, contemporary look to your kitchen or living room bar area.
Luxe Wine Bar with Marble & Mirror Glass Mosaic Tile Backsplash
An intricate mixed material mosaic tile backsplash can add visual interest and dimension to a small wine bar or butler's pantry in your home. Our Carrara Venato Marble and Antique Mirror Glass Marrakech Arabesque Mosaic Tile is a beautiful choice for a luxe home bar backsplash with a bit of shine. This eye-catching marble and mirrored glass backsplash pairs well with bold color bar cabinets - such as emerald green lacquered cabinets - as well as understated natural wood cabinets.
